CSI Tamil Parish Dubai

In 1994, Mr. Merwin started his career in the UAE with the National Bank of UAQ, and became an active member of the CSI Tamil Parish Dubai.

In 1997, he moved to Abu Dhabi and joined the Union National Bank, becoming an active member of the CSI Tamil Parish Dubai branch in Abu Dhabi. He played an important role, along with the other members, in helping the Abu Dhabi branch become independent in 1999, thereby establishing the CSI Tamil Parish Abu Dhabi.

In 1999, Mr. Merwin migrated to Canada, where he continued his banking career with The Bank of Nova Scotia. In 2004, he returned to Abu Dhabi, UAE, and joined the Union National Bank.

In 2008, he came back to Dubai and joined The Central Bank of UAE. He also became a member of the Holy Trinity Church, where he served on the Holy Trinity Church Council and continued to help the community in many ways, until he left for Canada in 2022 for his retirement after an illustrious career as a Chartered Accountant in the banking sector.

Mr. Merwin also played an important role in facilitating the CSI Tamil Parish Dubai to worship in the newly renovated St. Paul’s Hall at the Holy Trinity Church premises, which continues to benefit our ever-growing congregation.

Mr. Merwin and his wife, Mrs. Shanthi, were active attendees during our harvest festivals and contributed immensely to the events. He brought energy and joy while participating in the auctions, and Mrs. Shanthi lovingly prepared the delicious fish cutlets that everyone looked forward to each year.

Many of our congregation members have also benefited from Mr. Merwin’s valuable advice, in their careers and in life, as he always worked for the betterment of our church. He was someone who genuinely cared and was always willing to help, always ready to guide and encourage others. His support and commitment to the church will always be remembered.

We thank God for Mr. Merwin’s life, his faithful service, and the difference he made in so many lives. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his beloved wife, Mrs. Shanthi, their children, Sharonya and Nishanth, and their grandchildren. May God grant the entire family comfort and peace during this difficult time, and the strength to move forward.
